Flu Season, 2009

Many of my clients have asked me if I get a flu shot. The answer is not ever! Our immune system functions to keep us healthy without any intrusion from vaccination. Keep a healthy immune system and you will not likely suffer any major consequences. The immune system is designed to recognize any foreign invader and send out it's army of attackers to get rid of it. I keep my immune system healthy by feeding my body lots of dark green and other colorful vegetables and by applying and diffusing my essential oils. Have I ever gotten the flu? Once that I can remember in my lifetime. Not bad eh? Use your common sense and good judgement when making decisions about your health. Do what is best for you in your situation.

Massage Therapy Convention, September 28, 2009

Hello! I just returned from the massage therapy convention yesterday. Whew, my brain is full. Some of the things that I learned include shoulder work that is gentle and extremely effective, how to work on sciatica, and great methods for eliminating low back pain. I will also be introducing a new therapy called Massage Cupping Therapy. This therapy is indicated for such ailments as edema, inflammation of joints and tissues, chronic pain, and scar tissue work. I have to tell you that I saw spectacular results on scar work. I would not have believed it if I had not seen it myself . . . . . extremely powerful results. One of the women in the massage cupping booth had been in a car accident. She was thrown through the windshield face first. She showed me her scar that started in her hair and traveled diagonally across her face and clear down through her upper lip. She had before and after pictures. . . . INCREDIBLE! I will definitely be working to perfect this therapy in the near future. More about Massage Therapy Cupping soon.

Omnitech GPS  Model 16878-US Quit Working - June 17, 2009

I purchased this gps @ Staples in Washington, PA in December, 2008. I was traveling over the weekend and I was using the above gps navigator to find my destination. It worked okay on Friday afternoon, but on Monday morning it no longer worked. Actually everything worked on the thing except once an address was entered and you pressed go, it seemed to freeze up. Over the next 2 days I tried to get it to work using all of my "technical" knowledge. Finally, on Wednesday, during the late morning, I called the Staples store where I made the purchase. They told that they had received a memo on Monday stating they were not to sell anymore of this model gps. However, they claimed they couldn't tell me what the problem was. I asked for a phone number or website that I could get more information and they didn't know that either. I was told to Google Omnitech. I did and about 10 Omnitech's surfaced. I called the one I thought it was, but it was not the correct business. The girl was kind enough to give me a toll free number to call. She said they had received several thousand calls about this same problem and were able to obtain a phone number which I want to share with you. 800-425-0049 is the number for Staples Brand Product Support and not Omnitech. I hope this is helpful to you. Problem is the chip in this model is analog and when the switch was made to digital last Friday for television . . . . . . well it does not work anymore. They tell me they should have an answer this afternoon, but I'll be surprised. Good Luck!! . . . .Nicki

Cost of Cancer - June 9, 2009

I was listening to NBC's "Today Show" this morning and I was floored by the report about out of pocket expenses to people who have, and are being treated for cancer. They also reported that even people who have great health insurance coverage are having to file for bankruptcy. Why? They said because even the best insurance only pays 80% of your treatment cost. The balance of 20% is up to you. Cancer treatment is not cheap and costs thousands and thousands of dollars. This is the translation using their out of pocket figure of $1200 dollars per month. $1200 X 12 months = $14,400.00 per year that you owe as a result of having the best health care insurance coverage. Whew! . . . .Of course my mind goes to what makes sense. Get a weekly massage to help prevent cancer. Massage stimulates healthy T cells that fight disease and cancer causing agents. Cost per month $200 dollars. Cost per year $2,400 dollars. The savings = $12,000 per year. And you thought massage was just a luxury and only made you feel good. Oh dear, there is so much more to it. I will keep you posted. . . . .NIcki

P.S. How about the costs to your already good health? Burns, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, mouth sores, hair loss, extreme fatigue and missed work. How about the detrimental effects on your good blood? Anemia, plus low infection fighting cells, plus low platelet counts that cause bruising or excessive bleeding. The list is much longer than this. Google it for yourself. And remember, chemotherapy and radiation therapy are not designed to specifically target cancer cells.  Which "therapy" makes more sense? Killing healthy cells @ $1200 per month (chemo"therapy") or stimulating healthy cells @ $200 per month (massage therapy)? Your choice.
